For critically ill individuals

Illness cannot be planned for. Illness does not discriminate or show mercy. Illness causes pain. Ziedot.lv provides assistance with the treatment and care of people with serious and incurable conditions, as well as offering social support in exceptional circumstances by responding to individual requests for help.

When a person is chronically or terminally ill, they experience pain, physical incapacity and despair. They often require medicines not reimbursed by the state, medical consultations, rehabilitation and diagnostic tests, for which state-funded places are frequently exhausted. Being ill is expensive, and often the patient is unable to pay for what is needed out of their own pocket.

After suffering a stroke, heart attack, cancer or another serious illness that has become incurable, a person requires care and remains dependent on those around them until the end of their life. Sometimes this lasts a few weeks or months, but at other times it can be several years. Families caring for terminally ill relatives require immeasurable emotional and physical strength every day, as well as considerable financial resources. The family shoulders the responsibility of the patient’s day-to-day care – tending to them, lifting them, washing them and administering medication. Often, one of the relatives stops working in order to be there and provide care.

Medicines, doctors’ consultations, medical examinations, rehabilitation, nappies, bedpans, special body care and washing products for bedridden people, wound care products, dressings and many other items are needed on a daily basis. Medicines, care at home or in care homes cost several hundred euros a month, which people find difficult or even impossible to pay for themselves. We cannot allow seriously ill people to be left without help.
