We are the Ukrainain-Latvian Friendship Association. We are the only organization in Latvia that has taken on the responsibility of transporting Ukrainian soldiers—who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Jaunķemeri Resort Rehabilitation Center and the National Rehabilitation Center “Vaivari”—to specialist doctor appointments in Riga, when such visits are prescribed by their attending physicians.
Almost all Ukrainian soldiers receiving treatment in Latvia suffer from mobility impairments. Many require an escort and may have difficulty navigating the city, making it challenging or impossible for them to independently travel from Jūrmala to Riga and use public transportation.
Since 2022, more than 200 individuals have been transported to medical visits, and the number of appointments is increasing every month. In April 2025 alone, we supported 27 visits. Until now, the NGO has relied on its own resources to provide transportation. However, due to the growing demand, we are now seeking financial support to cover fuel and vehicle expenses.

This transportation support is deeply appreciated by the Ukrainian soldiers. It makes them feel seen, valued, and not forgotten by society. This, in turn, helps them receive the specialist care they urgently need—care that often significantly improves their mobility—and boosts their overall morale.
