Our help is needed for an energetic and strong mother of two who has been fighting breast cancer for nine years. Ekaterina was only 28 when, during her second pregnancy, doctors informed her that she had a genetic mutation and a high lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. Together with her oncologist, a plan was made to undergo a preventive mastectomy to avert the disease.
However, after she stopped breastfeeding her baby, an ultrasound revealed a mass. Jekaterina’s worst fears were confirmed—it was cancer. Jekaterina began her long battle... She has undergone several surgeries, as well as courses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Despite all the difficulties, Jekaterina held on, doing everything she could to live and be there for her children.
4 years ago, doctors found metastases in Jekaterina's lungs. Since then, her medications have been changed multiple times; she also underwent preventive removal of her ovaries and uterus, and another course of radiation therapy. Last year, thanks to the help of compassionate people, Jekaterina was able to receive treatment with expensive medications that are not covered by the government. NOW a medical board has prescribed a new course of treatment, and these drugs are also not reimbursed by the government. Therefore—difficult as it is—Jekaterina is once again asking for help. Every three weeks, €5,216.96 is needed to purchase the medications, and over the course of a year—€93,905.28.
Despite her illness, Jekaterina continues to work, but she cannot afford such costs, which is why she appeals to kind-hearted people for support. Jekaterina is a true fighter—she is not ready to give up! She dreams of seeing her children grow up and cherishes every moment and every day of life.
