Alona is 52 years old and has been living in Dundaga with her husband for 10 years. She is a warm-hearted and energetic woman who has always faced life's challenges and trials head-on. She has worked as a saleswoman, pastry chef, store manager, and seamstress, and loves gardening. Currently, her life is on hold due to health issues, but she has no shortage of plans.
"I am a simple woman who wants to live. I raised my daughter on my own, never asked anyone for help, fought on my own, worked several jobs to raise my child and give her a higher education. I am an active and cheerful person, but when I received my diagnosis, the ground disappeared from under my feet. I enjoy crafts, sports, and gardening, but right now I can't even bring myself to do the things I love. I would love to work, but I have to visit the hospital often, so my employer can't rely on me. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, and after undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, it seemed that the disease had been defeated and I had been reborn. Only a year and eight months passed, and the cancer returned with renewed vigor," says Alona.
The medical council prescribed Alona treatment with medicine that are included in the list of reimbursable medicine, but not in Alona's case. Individual compensation has also been denied. Every month, €3,912.72 is needed to purchase the medication. There is €3,365.48 left over from last year's donations, but €39,674.44 is still needed to continue the course of treatment. The family does not have such funds, so she is asking for help from her fellow human beings. Let's help!
