Dmitrijs is 39 years old and lives in Riga. For more than 20 years, he has worked and developed his professional career in the security systems industry, striving to be an active and responsible member of society. He and his wife are raising 13-year-old twin daughters.
Less than a year ago, the family’s life changed dramatically when Dmitrijs was diagnosed with lymphoma, a malignant cancer of the lymphatic system.
“Before my illness, I lived an active life, worked and took care of my family. I have undergone six intensive courses of chemotherapy and further treatment, which was successful. The return of the disease after achieving remission was an especially difficult blow for us. However, I do not want to give up. I value my life deeply and want to pursue every medically justified opportunity to continue my treatment.
At the moment, the greatest difficulty is that the medicines I need are extremely expensive, while the disease is progressing so rapidly that we simply cannot afford to wait for long.
From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank everyone who reads my story, supports our family, or simply shares this information. My greatest wish is to be with my wife, to see our daughters grow up, and to continue caring for them,” says Dmitrijs.
A medical specialist panel has prescribed Dmitrijs urgent, life-saving therapy with expensive medicines that are not funded by the state. His application for individual reimbursement has also been declined.
The treatment must be administered every three weeks. The first dose costs € 12 765.76, each of the following five doses costs € 19 699.68, and each of the final six doses costs € 9298,80 . The total amount required for the full course of treatment is € 167 056.96 The family does not have the financial means to cover such an enormous cost on their own. They are therefore asking for your help to give Dmitrijs the chance to continue his treatment and to live.
