The war in Ukraine is now in its fourth year, and thousands of people have found safe refuge in Latvia. Among these refugees are children with disabilities and serious health issues. These children need regular, professional, and long-term rehabilitation support.
During their journey as refugees, children have often lost access to their previous medical and rehabilitation care. In Latvia, families face significant challenges—limited financial resources, language barriers, insufficient information about available services, and long waiting lists. As a result, many children do not receive timely assistance, which is critical to their physical, emotional, and social development. Ukrainian refugee children are in urgent need of regular physical rehabilitation sessions, developmental ABA therapy sessions, medical services not covered by the state, and medications.
