24 August is Ukraine’s Independence Day. We are now in the fifth year of the full-scale war launched by Russia. Every day, the Ukrainian people are tested in terms of their emotional and physical resilience, as Russia’s crimes show no sign of ending. Some have been forced to flee as refugees, some have lost loved ones, and some have volunteered to serve on the front line. Children hope that their fathers will return home from the battlefield, and that their wives and mothers will be reunited with them, and that the horrors of war will one day come to an end. But the Ukrainians will not give in. And neither will we!
According to estimates by the Ukrainian government, between 5 and 6 million Ukrainian citizens will require psychological or physical rehabilitation once the war is over. The horrors of war and torture endured under occupation, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and recovery from injuries - these are the most common needs that specialists in Ukraine and Latvia are already addressing.
Let us help fund physical and psychological rehabilitation for soldiers in Ukraine and Latvia through donations.
