People with impairments can require lifelong support to perform everyday physical tasks like getting dressed, taking a shower, walking or eating. If the person has a developmental disorder such as autism or Down Syndrome even as an adult they may behave as children so may need continual supervision so as to not hurt themselves.
Some people who have impairments end up in state run social care homes where people with various needs and situation are simply mixed together, but many families choose to provide care for their impaired children at home instead. Close relatives, often parents, become their primary caregivers and have to provide constant care day and night. They can't leave their loved one home alone to get groceries or go to the doctor without first arranging an external carer to take their place for a few hours. For some paying for this backup carer is impossible.
Your donation of 256 Euros provides 32 hours of care* given by a carer who has been specially trained to care for seriously ill children through the Mila auklite (Dear Nanny) program. The Mila Auklite (Dear Nanny) program is supported by Ziedot.lv and Apeirons, an association of people with special needs and their friends.
