Implementing the Project „Once a Human Had a Friend” since april 2004, there is provided food, medicine and shelter for suffering small friends of humans, both, home pets, and exotic animals, who have stayed without an owner and got into the shelter , as well as for wild animals, who suffer and are in need of help.
The Project is carried out by the Foundation „Animal Friend Fund” and the shelter „Animal Friend”, which are based only thanks to private support and donations. Shelter „Animal Friend” daily keep about 80 cats and 30 dogs. During the 12 years of the shelter functioning about 10 000 animals have been rehomed – dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, decorative rats, home polecats, parrots, turtles and even mini-pig! All of them make happy stories!
Donating for the Project you will help:
- to purchase food for kittens, puppies, adult dogs and cats, as well as for animals with special needs;
- to purchase vaccines, medicine and to provide veterinary services, because very often abandoned animals are so weakened, that they need a special treatment – wound tratment or urgent surgery;
- to purchase things that are necessary for animals – collars, halters, food plates, kennels, beds;
- to informe society looking for responsible and kindhearted new owners for shelter inmates;
- to create educational programs on animal welfare and protection, especially for children and youth helping them to understand animal nature and to promote reponsibility for them.

Time has the same value as money, even more valuable, because it is not possible to buy one’s heart warmth. There are many ways how to help becoming a volunteer of the „Animal Friend Fund”.
