In many small hearts there lives the hope that one day they will become similar to other children of their age will meet new friends, will be able to run and play with them, make a little devilry in secret and make their parents happy with good deeds. However, among us there are children for whom this is only a hope at the moment. They have been affected by a disease that denies them the happiness of movement – infantile paralysis.
You can help sixteen of these children – Armins Sefers, Linards Lapins, Rudolfs Vapa, Roberts Richards Garstins, Valerija Zukova, Diana Kraukle, Anastasija Jeremejeva, Aleksandrs Stjopins, Vladislavs Mazalevskis, Daniels Vikentjevs, Daniels Culijs, Viktors Sprogis, Jegors Bazarkins, Dimitrijs un Vadims Maikovi and Endijs Cekanovskis – to reduce the weight of this illness!
For every mother and father their child is the most beloved and the best despite their illness. It is not easy – many mothers must leave their jobs in order not to have to send their child to a care centre. These parents do not give up; they fight for their children and look for alternative ways to help them. You have already helped many of these children in frames (?) of this project and individually. The disease is serious and that is why these children still need your help!
The Ukrainian International rehabilitation hospital in Truskavets www.reha.lviv.ua, offers unique neurophysiologic rehabilitation treatment for children who have infantile paralysis. It is a very expensive process that is not included in services covered by the state. But the results of this treatment are very positive and they enable great progress in the development of these children. Unfortunately this method is not available in Latvia or in neighbouring countries.
One 12-day rehabilitation course for one child in Ukraine costs, on average, 1500 LVL (depending on the age, seriousness of diagnosis and companion). The minimum number of courses recommended by doctors is three, but ideally they should be repeated once a year. In order for all 20 children to receive one rehabilitation course 29 872 LVL must be collected, but for them to have all three necessary courses – 89 616 LVL.
These children and their parents need friends who will give them a helping hand. Rehabilitation in Ukraine is not cheap and in most cases the parents do not have enough resources to secure it for their children. By donating money to these children you help to fulfil the dreams of these children and let them to feel that you are not indifferent towards them. Let’s help them!
