All young children want to be like their peers - meeting new friends, participating in games and mischiefs and bringing joy to their parents with good deeds.
However, amongst us there are many children who can only dream about this. Their mobility and movement is restricted by cerebral palsy that is often coupled by epilepsy or other rare genetic illness or injuries that will always be part of their lives.
These children can be helped by rehabilitation programs that are available in Latvia (for example - Vaivari, Ligatne, Baltezers) and specialised health centres abroad. Once a year, these children get the government's support to go to rehab, but this is nowhere near enough.
Parents of these children don't give up and keep looking for new opportunities for improvement. While the results can be great - it is a very expensive process and is not covered by the health care system. Families invest all of their effort and financial resources to help their children; however, without the support of the society there is very little they can do.
In year 2015, in Vidzeme region there are 6 children awaiting support. To improve their health condition and quality of life, they need regular treatment and rehabilitation.
