Support for Charity Organisations

The portal Ziedot.lv provides opportunities for charity project implementers:

• to publish a charity project in Ziedot.lv;
• to use a unique system to attract funds to achieve the charitable goals of the organisation;
• to inform a wider audience of contributors about the activities;
• to present themselves as an organisation that corresponds to the Standard of Good Practice.

Ziedot.lv projects must meet the following criteria:

• the project must be focused on improving the situation of the chosen target group in the long term, not in the form of shares and short-term;
• the project provides support to those who have no resources to help themselves and to whom it is vitally important.
• the support is provided in those fields that are not directly included in state competence and funding.
• the project must help form the public opinion in favour of the corresponding target group – either by changing the attitude in favour of this group or by encouraging others to help.
• the project must be realistic with achievable results.

To publish a project in Ziedot.lv, the organisation must meet the following criteria:

• the organisation is a registered, non-profit organisation (associations, foundations, state and municipal educational and cultural institutions, research institutes);
• the goals and activities of the organisation are targeted at public (not private) benefit issues;
• the organisation has been granted public benefit status;
• the organisation has submitted the previous Financial Annual Report to the State Revenue Service and has no tax liability;
• the organisation must have an impeccable reputation.

The following documents must be submitted:

• the project application (consists of a project form and full project description). A copy of the organisation’s registration certificate and Articles of Association, a copy of the Ministry of Finances decision on Public Benefit Status;
• the previous annual financial report and substantive activities report;
• a list of organisation functionaries;
• the project manager’s CV.

Support for Individuals

Ziedot.lv accepts applications for donations to save children’s lives and to provide health care if the application corresponds to the following criteria:

1. the donation is necessary for solving the health problems of a child (up to 18 years);
2. the necessary surgery, treatment or rehabilitation is not included in the state refund services list;
3. the specific diagnosis and the necessity for the surgery, treatment or rehabilitation are approved by a corresponding physician’s notice;
4. the child’s parents are able to present a notice about the planned expenses of the surgery, treatment or rehabilitation, as well as the location where the treatment will be carried out. The presented treatment sum corresponds to the amount requested for donations;
5. the family confirms that it does not possess the necessary funding for the child’s treatment (Ziedot.lv checks this information at the corresponding municipality);
6. the donations for the concrete surgery or rehabilitation are not already being (and also won’t be) collected with the help of other charity organisations;
7. Ziedot.lv does not pay the donated sum to the individual, but covers the corresponding payment for the surgery, treatment or rehabilitation;
8. the individual undertakes to inform Ziedot.lv about the results of the corresponding surgery, treatment or rehabilitation.

To publish a support project in Ziedot.lv for an individual, the child’s legal representative must submit an application (in Latvian) and all the required medical certificates, as well as a copy of one of the parent’s passports and a copy of the child’s birth certificate.

Support for Families

Ziedot.lv accepts applications within the framework of the project “Support to Families of Latvia”. Ziedot.lv provides support to families in Latvia in the following cases:

• support for children and adults who have become victims of accidents (fires, natural disasters, etc.) in the reconstruction of housing and household, as well as for specific treatments that cannot be provided by the state or municipalities;
• for low income families that are ready to invest in the improvement of their situation (e.g. to buy seeds for vegetable cultivation, livestock to produce the products themselves, etc.);
• for families in emergency situations in accordance with the recommendations of a municipal social service/social worker.

Terms:

The project application is processed no later than one month from the date of filing.

Additional conditions:

• Ziedot.lv does not guarantee that the required sum will be donated for the project (it depends on the activity of contributors and of project organisation);
• Ziedot.lv has the right to request additional information from the organisation.
• if the organisation has submitted a project similar in content and target audience to some already existing projects in the portal, Ziedot.lv has the right to deny or postpone publishing this project in the portal;
• Ziedot.lv does not accept projects created for organising fund-raising campaigns/offers;
• Ziedot.lv does not accept large-scale infrastructure projects for collecting donations, as well as projects of repair and construction works;
• if the project application has been denied, Ziedot.lv has the right not to consider this application a second time;
• an agreement with the organisation is signed about project publishing in Ziedot.lv. No charge is required for publishing the project in Ziedot.lv.

The application must be completed in printed form, signed in one copy and submitted to the charity portal Ziedot.lv, Bruņinieku iela 10A, Riga, LV - 1001, Latvia. Applications can be submitted in person (on prior agreement on the specific visit time with portal employees) or sent by mail as well.
